Powering Biotech: Inside an All-Electric Facility

January 29 | 4:30 P.M. PT

Speaker: Jeff Wegner, Fellow – Energy + Sustainability

For many in biopharma, sustainable operations seem like a distant, expensive, or lofty goal without a clear plan or priority. But not for all. A few in the industry are already reaping the benefits from designing with sustainability in mind. Allogene’s fully electric, solar-powered, zero-water central plant, 136,000 sq ft, CAR T manufacturing facility, has been operational for over a year. So, is it a win? What is the theoretical vs. actual power generation and utilization, and is going green worth it? Join us as we discuss how this state-of-the-art plant was designed for sustainability and why it makes good business and operational sense. The duo will discuss the strategies employed at the site and dig into real-world operations data against design expectations and industry standards to demonstrate the tangible wins of a greener facility. Sustainability goals are within your reach and more budget-friendly than you might think.

Implementing the New Biomanufacturing Facilities Guide – Panel Discussion

January 29 | 5:00 P.M. PT

Small group of industry leaders from Kite, Fuji and Thermo Fisher interview Biopharma Baseline Guide Update authors.  Panelists will discuss key features of the recently published Baseline Guide Revision.   Hear highlights from authors as they overview changes in this recently released update to this Guide.  Bring your own questions and enjoy the session.

Ionized Hydrogen Peroxide System

January 30 | 9:00 A.M. PT

Speakers: Allison Cisneros, Project Manager, and Simon Richmond, PE, PMP, Director of Project Delivery Services

This session would review overall IHP advantages vs. traditional Vaporized Hydrogen Peroxide used to clean GMP processing suites between batches or modality changes. The presentation will include discussion of the design and construction challenges associated with this system, lessons learned by the project team and operational benefit achieved by Avid Bioservices from this system. To our knowledge, this is a first-of-its-kind system with numerous operational benefits. Key topics to discuss: – ihp overview and product application options – ihp vs. vhp (including AHJ requirements) -required design integration within cleanroom applications (door interlocking, bms, mechanical design, system support) – current function review from Avid VV (first west coast application)

A Look Inside the World of Integrated Digital Operations

January 30 | 12:15 P.M. PT

Speaker: Yvonne Duckworth, PE, Fellow – Digital Technology

The industry is hungry for mature, integrated digital manufacturing capabilities to enable the most efficient and effective operations possible. But getting there is a journey. This session looks at the essential steps of that journey from three different sides: the owner, service providers, and the industry itself. Yvonne Duckworth, Fellow of Digital Technology at CRB, shares the foundation and planning essentials necessary to achieve true digital integration. Jordan Croteau, Sr. Director of Manufacturing Systems, looks at the navigation and evolution necessary for Moderna to carry forward its digital integration aspirations. And then, we’ll look to the highly anticipated ISPE Baseline Guide for Pharma 4.0 that will help drive the industry further. This session will look at industry tools, best practices, use cases, and lessons learned.

We look forward to seeing you there. The full agenda can be found here: https://ispe.org/conferences/2024-facilities-future-conference/agenda
