Health Professions and Science Building Planning + Design

Health Professions and Science Building Planning + Design

The Arvada Health Professions and Science Building consolidates all of the college’s health professional programs in one facility. The expansion includes a new 50,000-square-foot building next to the existing structure and a 16,000-square-foot renovation of the existing structure. This triples the size and capacity of the Arvada campus.

Programs in the new building include nursing, diagnostic sonography, medical office technology and medical assisting, as well as the only community college-based physician’s assistant master’s degree program in the country. The physician’s assistant and anatomy program include a full grossing anatomy lab.

Additionally, the science program will offer a two-year science degree that requires chemistry, biology and anatomy labs for health professionals and science students. CRB was retained to provide lab planning and health science teaching lab design services.

As a public building, the Arvada Health Professions and Science Building must meet Colorado’s high-performance building requirements and be designed to obtain LEED Gold certification. CRB was an active participant in the sustainability design and performance requirements for the labs—the most energy-intensive elements of the building.
