Bohn discusses alternative protein production on MeatingPod podcast

Cultivated meat may not yet be a consumer product, but that doesn’t mean that these factories of the future aren’t already being designed. In Episode 99 of MeatingPod, “Factories of the future,” Sebastian Bohn looks into his crystal ball and describes for Alt-Meat Editor-in-Chief, Lisa Keefe, what he sees in the evolving industry of alternative protein production. 

With the recent FDA conclusion that cultivated meat is safe for human consumption, many are curious about the next steps for these facilities and companies. Bohn explains “this is the FDA’s initial review of one specific company’s specific product, so there is going to be a whole litany of secondary steps that still have to happen.” The biggest hurdle is the USDA’s approval timing. This will heavily influence how quickly companies get from R&D to production.
