Mike Barrett is a project delivery champion in CRB’s Raleigh, NC office and his experience spans design and construction of biotech and pharma facilities. He is recognized for expertise using Lean design and construction techniques, tools, and behaviors to build successful high-performing teams. His collaborative, focused teams have deep levels of trust working towards the common project purpose of operational facilities.
Barrett’s project experience spans design and construction of biotech and pharma facilities across the Southeast. He is recognized for his project knowledge surrounding upstream and downstream processing, cell and gene therapy technologies, process utility systems, plant utility systems, Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) process systems and construction of CGMP facilities. He has a vast project portfolio that includes over 200 life science projects totaling nearly $1 billion in total installed costs.
Barrett has actively led and participated in multiple successful ONEsolution™ projects, leveraging lean techniques in the planning, design and pre-construction phases. His demonstrated understanding and application of lean principles has made him a go-to among colleagues and clients when it comes to driving cost ownership.
Barrett is a core member of the Lean Construction Institute’s Carolinas Community of Practice and enjoys continually learning and sharing stories and best practices within the community. He facilitates group discussions among members and encourages participants to share failures as well as successes, driving home the mentality that there are invaluable lessons to be learned from both. He is also a member of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering.
