Jochen Schmidt-Nawrot contributes to ISPE’s new “Good Practice Guide: Membrane-Based WFI Systems”

CRB’s Jochen Schmidt-Nawrot, Process Utilities Lead, is a contributing author to the new “ISPE Good Practice Guide: Membrane-Based Water for Injection (WFI) Systems,” published May 2022. As a member of the Guide Core Team, Schmidt-Nawrot collaborated with a range of industry experts from across the world to provide comprehensive guidance on the design, operation, maintenance, and quality aspects of membrane-based WFI systems, including generation, storage, and distribution.

The information presented in this Good Practice Guide is the combination of proven technological solutions, microbial control methods, process analytical technology, and operations and maintenance practices, and is a complimentary guide to several other ISPE Guidance Documents.

An industry veteran with more than 20 years’ experience, Schmidt-Nawrot brings a unique perspective to his role at CRB and is dedicated to supporting innovation in the pharmaceutical water sector. He is an active member of ISPE and part of the Regional Community of Practice (rCoP) “Water and Steam” in the DACH-region. He has supported the approval of membrane technologies for production of WFI by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM).
