CRB is pleased to announce that Niranjan Kulkarni, PhD, has published an article in Pharmaceutical Engineering magazine, “Determining Minimum Number of Weigh Rooms to Meet Target Throughput.” This article presents a novel method, which employs Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) and Discrete Event Simulations (DES), for determining the number of weigh-dispense rooms required to meet target throughput. To demonstrate the applicability of this methodology, a real life case study is presented in this article. The proposed method is valid for any problem which involves creating attribute-based clusters and performing throughput analysis.
Niranjan graduated with a PhD in Industrial Engineering and is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. His experience ranges from life sciences, automotive, electronic packaging, and finance industries. He is part of the CRB team offering operational improvement consulting services using Lean and Six Sigma, process simulation, supply chain management, and industrial engineering techniques for clients throughout the life sciences industry.
