CRB Architects Alicia Pandimos Maurer, AIA, LEED AP BD+C and Jessica Cochran, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP, collaborated to co-author an article for “Pharmaceutical Engineering” entitled “Construction Waste Reduction.” The article, which is featured in the September/October issue of the ISPE technical magazine, presents the strategies and outcomes of implementing a plan to divert waste from landfills and back into the supply chain during construction for building demolition waste reduction.

The case study chronicles a project in which demolition waste was reduced by more than 90% due to sustainable practices. Construction materials were donated, reused, and recycled thus eliminating over 1.2 million pounds of waste from being discarded in landfills.

Maurer is a registered architect, lab planner and sustainability specialist for CRB and has 14 years of experience. Cochran is an associate architect and sustainability specialist and has four years of experience. Both women have focused their careers on implementing sustainable design and LEED consulting into their projects.
